However, it can be updated even after its release. UIDAI does the work of issuing Aadhaar to citizens. To take advantage of any government scheme, it is necessary that ‘POI’ and ‘POA’ should always be updated in your Aadhaar. Recently UIDAI has made a tweet in this regard.

You can update for 25 rupees

UIDAI tweeted and wrote- ‘Always keep your ‘POI’ and ‘POA’ documents updated in your Aadhaar to avail the benefits of various government and non-government services. A fee of Rs 25 will be charged online for updating ‘POI’ and ‘POA’ documents in Aadhaar. Whereas, if you get this work done offline, then you will have to pay Rs.50.

‘POI’ and ‘POA’ are also called Proof of Identity and Proof of Address. To update it, such a document is required, which has both name and photo. It can be updated with the help of documents like PAN card, e-PAN, ration card, voter ID and driving license.

Fee for biometric update

Apart from this, you can easily get the demographic details (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile and email) updated in your Aadhaar by paying a fee of Rs.50. You will have to pay Rs 100 for biometric update. You can also get the name address updated online, but the biometric update will have to go to the nearby Aadhaar center. Recently UIDAI has asked to update Aadhaar every 10 years.

How many times can the name be changed in Aadhaar?

Aadhaar card has a unique 12-digit number, which reveals the information of the concerned citizen. In this, many details including address, name of parents, age are present. UIDAI has fixed the limit for name change for any Aadhaar card holder. According to UIDAI, an Aadhaar card holder can change his name in his Aadhaar data only twice in his lifetime.
